This sculptural vessel opens like a cup to the elements, its hollowed body rising from a narrow base into a quiet field of cratered blue. The surface is shaped by the release of silicon carbide gas during firing — a chemical alchemy that causes the glaze to bubble and rupture, leaving behind a lunar terrain frozen in clay.
Pools of indigo, cobalt, and mineral green gather in each cavity, shifting as light moves across the surface. Both devotional object and functional vessel, this piece holds flowers like an offering or stands as a solitary contemplative form.
One of a kind.
