The DC02 dining chair was born of an interest in chance-based compositional methods applied in experimental music and an exercise in developing a design

process that is swift enough in execution from conception through construction to offer each piece as a unique.

Determined through experimentation, the design process is truncated to the maximum extent possible by a rule-bound process in which a form is generated in a few seconds within the limited parameters of rudimentary smartphone notepad software. The resulting images are rendered in plywood on a CNC router and installed as seating panels on a simple steel frame.

Also available in finished Ash, on view at IDS Vancouver, Vancouver Convention Centre Sept. 24 - 25, 10 – 6pm.
